Jinyan Li is an Associate Professor and core member at Advanced Analytics Institute and Centre for Health Technologies, Faculty of Engineering and IT, University of Technology Sydney, Australia. His research is focused on fundamental data mining algorithms, machine learning, gene expression data analysis, structural bioinformatics, and information theory. He is known for emerging patterns in data mining, and is known for `double water exclusion’ hypothesis in bioinformatics. Jinyan obtained his PhD from the University of Melbourne, Master degree of Engineering from Hebei University of Technology, and Bachelor degree of Science from National University of Defense Technology.

Shoba Ranganathan, Macquarie University
Professor Shoba Ranganathan has studied and worked in the field of bioinformatics since 1983. Her research interests include genome annotation, transcriptome analysis, structural bioinformatics, immunoinformatics, genome-phenome analysis, biological networks, biodiversity informatics and cheminformatics. Shoba served as the first Australian Director of the International Society for Computational Biology (2003-5) and is currently the President of the Asia-Pacific Bioinformatics Network. She is a steering committee member of the International Immunomics Society and of Bioinformatics Australia. She is also a Bioinformatics and Biostatistics expert advisory panel member to the National Health & Medical Research Council, Australia since 2012.
